Review of the Kraft Recovery Boiler seminar with Dr. Honghi Tran

On Monday, June 17 2018, SAPP Management AG opened its doors to host a seminar at the new headquarters in Klagenfurt for the first time. The day started with an introduction and some opening remarks from SAPP’s CEO, Dr. Karl Haller. The audience was predominantly international and we welcomed participants from Czech Repulic, Slovakia, Sweden, Germany and Austria.

During the morning and early afternoon of the first day, Dr. Tran gave valuable insights into the following topics:

• Kraft Recovery Process and the Role of Recovery Boilers
• Recovery Boiler Fundamentals (black liquor properties, black liquor combustion and recovery boiler chemistry)
• Operational Issues (deposit formation and control, corrosion and emissions)
• Latest Recovery Boiler Research at University of Toronto

After Dr. Tran had finished his agenda for the day, the recovery boiler experts from SAPP Management AG gave presentations on Recovery Boiler Design – NPE Balance as well as Recovery Boiler Services and Resarch & Development.

To end the first seminar day, the whole group enjoyed dinner at one of the most picturesque spots around Lake Wörth.

The second day was fully devoted to the participants‘ in-house challenges. During the troubleshooting sessions, they could discuss their issues in individual talks and find possible solutions together with Dr. Tran and the experts from SAPP.

After the official part of the seminar was over, we wanted to show the seminar participants and Dr. Tran and his wife more of our beautiful town. After lunch at the city centry, we made a sighseeing trip to Pyramidenkogel, the popular observation tower, from which you can enjoy a stunning view over the lake and the mountains.

We can proudly announce that the seminar was a complete success for everyone involved – the particpants, Dr. Tran, as well as for us from SAPP Management AG. Therefore, we have decided to host events like this on a more regular basis.
